I used large wide rubber bands to hold each individual layer together for ease of handling. To decorate choose ribbon in colors that coordinate with the towels or wedding colors. My niece had requested purple towels so I selected a wide white ribbon adorned with pearls. Cut the ribbon into 60", 40" and 30" lengths. Tie the large piece around the bath towels layer and repeat for the other two cake layers. When complete, stack the cake layers starting with the largest layer at the bottom. I used small pins to hold the layers in place. If you do use pins try to place them through the tags on the towels not the towels themselves.
Finding great seaside towels is extremely easy. You can purchase them on-line through different stores, or you can simply go to almost any division shop and find the one that you want. Beach towels are not expensive and you can usually find fantastic offers on awesome patterns.
In recent times the poncho towel has become increasingly popular, I think I first saw cheap versions in beach front shops in seaside towns. They tended to have very bright coloured designs of cartoon or Disney characters and they had a hood but no arms and the towel was loose and just hung over your front and back. They were a brilliant development from the normal beach towel because you could wear them so there was less to carry and they didn't fall off so would keep you reasonably warm.
